Guli Spring/Summer 2011 collection and show, during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NY, was characterized by predominant Uzbek elements such as traditional woven fabrics, oriental accessories (i.e. hats, shoes and jewelry), folk patterns and exotic color palette. Those ones were further accentuated by the use of neutral shades in swimsuits and evening dresses. Worthy of note where the colorful coats paired with applique-embellished beige bodices and the lacy bras worn with oriental pants. Gulnara Islomovna Karimova, a very active woman, with career as designer, singer and diplomat – daughter of the President of Uzbekistan – presented a quite interesting show, proving that there is nothing old and boring about tradition…
