Tory Burch SS 14: American Girls in the French Riviera!

For Spring/Summer 2014 Tory Burch referenced the late 60’s drama La Piscine – with hot couple Alain Delon and Romy Schneider caught in a battle of desire and jealousy – to create a very wearable, feminine and sophisticated collection full of European flair and seductive power. There are many beautiful mini dresses, collared tops, cropped or capri pants as well as ultra elegant three-quarter sleeved jackets. I loved the florals, the embroidery, and the little prints which exude an element of romanticism and sweetness. Some details such as smart accessories – the purse belt – or unexpected frills and collars added an element of eclecticism to the whole, while the natural, eco-friendly color palette suggested a free-spirit, a desire to escape and enjoy life near the seascape of the Mediterranean.

It definitely appeals strongly to the American girls who love to visit Europe, while at the same time seems a quite familiar and charming story for European girls opting for a little more preppiness than usual. Those two continents meet somehow, especially when we are talking about modern cosmopolitan creatures who travel a lot and appreciate the mingling of cultures. Of course, behind this charming story there is always great tailoring, nice fabrics and a philosophy which also touches the periphery of fashion, what we more or less call lifestyle. For Tory this is very important. She wants her lady to have an interesting life!
