For Spring/Summer 2014 Tommy Hilfiger got inspired by what young hip girls wear right now in NYC but also got a great influence from the Malibu surfers’ culture. He added to the mix basic elements of sportswear, cool jerseys, tank tops, and loose shorts that remind us of some NBA players’ on-duty outfits! Colors were bold and adorable, prints were exotic and the silhouettes very modern! It’s where the L.A. girl meets the NYC fashionista, or where the seashore becomes one with the cityscape.
Neoprene was used extensively and it was further complimented by the smart positioning of color-blocking. Neutrals interacted with bright red and blue in super comfy, wearable clothes which make a statement. The looks were fabulously accessorized with amazing sneakers, roomy bags, and elegant flat sandals. The sandy setting at the MB Fashion Week show made swimsuit-clad models feel at home. Geometry played a major role. Tommy transformed wetsuits into day dresses and ensembles. He borrowed the main idea and elevated it to his signature All-American cool! We loved it!
