Wearable and sophisticated with a wide range of followers, Tibi Collection makes a beautiful statement at the era of crisis. Vivid, uplifting colors as well as neutrals address almost every type of woman who recognizes quality as a common denominator of valuable fashion. Investing on femininity and simplicity, Tibi responds to modern needs and for that matter remains successfully in the next season’s market. Tailored monochromatic mini-dresses with short geometric sleeves reinterpret women’s desire to be desirable concurrently with the necessity of being strong and clear-cut. Clarity is a prominent element in most of Tibi Spring/Summer 2011 outfits (that were presented at the MB Fashion Week in NY) even those adorned with prints and/or laced cut-out motives. There are a lot of straight hemlines and a great deal of symmetric design, bringing order even to the lighter fabrics. Transparencies are rare and when present, not at all provocative – rather innocent and discreet. The designer Amy Smilovic, a woman who has traveled a lot, understands deeply most women’s need to have in their wardrobe chic basics, that carry in their DNA the ability to transform into something hot, trendy, classic, corporate, day, evening or casual, with the smart addition of different accessories. One of the most lovable prints in the collection was the black & white pixelated animal print, something between bar codes and zebra skin patterns. Another interesting combination was that of linen with leather both in double-faced belts and in leather-trimmed safari looks. I was intentionally in the privileged position to watch the show from a seat close to the catwalk’s start, which meant that I could easily photo-shoot last-minute preparations.
