Zippers, multiple open folds, baggy pieces, loose hoods, wide turtlenecks and generally necklines with rich drapery, off-shoulder tops and tight pants are the main features of Ratt by Rita Attalla Fall/Winter 2011/12 collection presented at the AXDW. The pieces were wearable, comfortable and versatile. Many of the styles can smartly cover over-curvy areas of the body and improve less than perfect silhouettes. The collection can also add a hip element to a wardrobe adopted by young girls with slim bodies and perfect proportions. The folds contribute to a relaxed, casual look, easy for everyday occasions. Among others there were some maxi dresses, equally loose and comfortable, for less formal evening looks. Many women, somewhat insecure for their bodies, might find a stylish shelter in this collection. Others still believe that they don’t need so much coverage and will prefer to reveal more of their bodies. I am still afraid of the baggy nature of those cloths and I am a little puzzled about the visual effect of so many folds especially on certain body types (e.g. petites). Nevertheless, it is certain that folds and loose elements can add volume on a less gifted bust or deduct from bulky hips! On the other hand, we found some adorably fitted pieces such as beautiful tight pants, edgy little black dresses and looks accentuated at the waist with wide black belts. This means that we can combine loose and fitted elements in the same look so as to make it balanced. Her basic palette, including black, toffee, brown, grey and white, made most pieces easy to match with others, affordable and classic.
