NYFW Spring/Summer 2017 Preview Day

Pre-NYFW day started with the debut of the God Save Queens luxury lingerie brand at Pier 59 studios accompanied with live performance by SHAED which is a head-bobbing electro-pop project comprised of multi-instrumentalist twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst and powerhouse vocalist Chelsea Lee.

Lee’s vocals weave divinely through the Ernst twin’s pop-sensible production that can make anyone move.  Their debut “Just Wanna See” EP was set to drop as the trio heads on their first national tour with Marian Hill on September 9th. A really new thing! Created in 2014, God Save Queens has become known for its ultra-feminine, sensual lingerie. The key is the material – subtle laces are imported from Italy and France. The new collection is a combination of laces, leather applications, microfiber and elastic. As a whole, it is very feminine, yet quite provocative at the same time. The models, seemingly casual, are full of sex appeal thanks to sensual, deep cut-outs, perfect fit and numerous transparent elements.

The Denibi show was a great surprise to me! Denibi is a fashion house born and based in Barcelona. They specialize in high quality leather goods, ready-to-wear, and furniture inspired by the city of Barcelona, the essence of traveling, African heritage and minimalism. The main inspiration of the brand came from the single ebony wood mask named Nostalgia. They presented the shape in some wonderful backpacks. The silhouettes were structured but also soft and fluid. It was a fine interplay of old and new ideas!

Later, Michelle Helene presented her own SS17 collection at Pier 59 Studios and it was a very interesting one! “My inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2017 collection is rooted in both the clothing and political messaging from the 1970s. This is my interpretation on anti-conformist casual chic fashion for the modern day woman,” explains designer Michelle Helene. “The collection combines the flirty and feminine with sporty elements throughout as well as touches of hand woven details.” Michelle Helene worked with Tomas DeLucia, Creative Director at The Sense Sociey, to create a fragrance that was customized for the presentation; as he explains,”To compliment this 70s inspired collection, our fragrance for Michelle Helene is sultry and soft. Fresh and bright florals combined with a seductive musk, hints of humid wood and green transport you from the bedroom to the disco on a hot summer night.”

Love!!!
