One afternoon behind the lens is sufficient amount of time for genius Karl Lagerfeld to write the script and direct gorgeous models Baptiste Giabiconi and Magdalena Frackowiak as costars of the five-minute short film “Le Lettre” on his collaboration with luxury footwear brand Hogan. The story refers to a couple dealing with relationship issues such as distrust, suspiciousness, and love that turns into obsession. Scenes zooming at the shoes and bags designed by the “Kaizer”, alternate with scenes dedicated to the “letter” the girl is hiding from her boyfriend. Although it’s all about the designer’s capsule collection for the Italian brand, himself seems to pay much more attention to the idea of love, attachment and commitment than the material dimension of his product. It is characteristic that the last instantané features the girl throwing down her fashionable bag, after her brief fight with her mate. Celebrities who attended the official screening in Paris were, among others, Janet Jackson, Stephen Dorff, and Rupert Everett. Karl Lagerfeld seemed to be very proud of producing it in such a small amount of time and, elaborating on his acheivement, added that “even silent movies were done in a very short amount of time.”
