Joanna Mastroianni proved to be much fresher and less openly seductive than in previous seasons, and everybody was talking about the secret ace that was hidden in her sleeve! Personally, I really picked the very sophisticated little white dresses as my favorites, due to the balanced details and the very flattering silhouettes. I also liked a bright yellow number, for the most glamorous summer evenings! The designer kept her signature style but at the same time made a decisive twist towards more innovation!
For Spring/Summer 2014, American Fashion Designer Joanna Mastroianni sought inspiration from her recent travels to Barcelona. Influenced by the brilliant architecture of Gaudi, Mastroianni showcased her talent and intricate craftsmanship through this season’s collection which was unveiled at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
The collection takes notes from the unique architecture and passion for nature, seen in the incredible work of Gaudi. She embraces and translates his engineered masterpieces and use of curves, to frame and flatter the female form. The orchestration of vibrant colors in Mediterranean aqua, chartreuses, sunshine yellow and tangerine in combination with black and white, reflect Joanna Mastroianni’s shared passion for nature, textures, intricate details and the modern graphic world.
This season the designer created a day-into-evening collection that plays on feminine curves and architectural shapes. There are flirty, seductive cocktail dresses, and spectacular entrance-making gowns, in luxurious fabrics and leather. Special attention is given to original embroideries, layering of fabrics, textures, and of course, mosaic-like patterns that are so prevalent in Gaudi’s work. Mastroianni has accomplished a bold and adventurous collection that is feminine, young and fun.
“I wanted to take the viewer on a magical journey, much like Gaudi does through his works,” says Mastroianni. “My wish is to entertain and surprise the eyes as the garments come to life on the runway. The ‘curve’ is the connecting thread for the entire collection.” I think she achieved it! It was an adorable collection with great things to wear and turn heads! Love!!!
