Dickensian figures enriched with 80’s punk elements are Asel&Eleonora’s favorites. Their Fall/Winter 2011/12 collection included a lot of steam punk originals, looks that combine the heavy styles of the industrial revolution with the punk subculture trend Madonna popularized in the 80’s. Their creations are closely related to thrift store looks, as a modern mix-and-match of Victorian flamboyance and punk subversive style. The combination was wearable and interesting, with features that could be easily adopted by young girls who approach fashion in a more casual manner. Asymmetries, overcoats à la “Misérables,” plaid wool, Steam Age riding boots and pants, baggy worker pants, Victorian shirts with frills and tailcoats, punk gloves, zippers, and loose maxi skirts were the basic highlights of this style. Steam Punk is still popular abroad with designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Betsey Johnson and previously Alexander McQueen, and we are very happy that now we can find in Greece.
