A Smart Glamour Event

NY Fashion Week was full of fashionable and emotional moments, many of which with a special message to put across or a smart idea to put through. Towards the end of this energizing and inspiring whirlwind of events and shows, SmartGlamour – a new all-inclusive, affordable and customizable clothing line revolving around body positivity and wellness presented itself to an audience of photographers, press and fashion insiders.

Designer Mallorie Carrington – who appeared at the finale of the fashion show – wearing a hot mini skirt and a bomber jacket with the word ‘Boss’ appliqued on her back – shared with us her enthusiasm about her empowering collection of dresses and separates in happy colors and summery prints. I was excited to see each of her designs in two different silhouettes of models proudly parading in front of us, equally flattering in both cases. She employed some smart details including straps, cut-outs, draping and frilling, along with smart use of different lengths (from maxis to minis) to mold a desirable figure at every single size.

Her models were all smiling and confident, embracing their figure in a positive way and promoting the idea of looking gorgeous at any size. The designer said of her XXS-6XXL collection that her items are all under $100 and her clients have the option to customize them with an extra $20 so as to fit 100%. The event was sponsored by blogger Sydney Stone of Stylaphile. The brand will launch its first pop-up store in NYC in March, making this the first New York City boutique that caters to women of all sizes at affordable price points. During the 3 month pop-up shop they will host exciting events such as guest speakers on body positivity and parties hosted by notable fashion bloggers. In the meantime every hand-made-in-NYC piece from the SS15 collection is available online at www.smartglamour.com.

Before the fashion show at the Thierry-Goldberg Gallery (103 Norfolk St.) there was also a #MeasureMeBeautiful stand to promote the brainchild of SmartGlamour designer Mallorie Carrington, co-sponsored by body-positive blogger Sydney Stone of Stylaphile; a movement to educate women on the importance and benefits of knowing their measurements and their body. Mallorie Carrington – an FIT and Pratt Institute graduate – gave us her own powerful version of empowering women and an inspiration to hold and share with others!

Love You All!!!
