Christina Scarpeli: Scarpi Fashion & Modern Culture

scarpeli1Seeking to criticize the modern way of living through fashion, Christina Scarpeli ended up with a collection of items and looks that seem to derive from urban culture’s spare materials: nylon, synthetics of any kind and stuff that needs to be recycled. Her latest Fall/Winter 2010/11 collection is called “Artificial Utopia”. Behind that, there was some sort of political statement, a sociological analysis of the waste contemporary style produces. Christina is environmentally conscious, an artist/designer who sends useful messages through her accessories and apparel. Many of her pieces reminded us of the classical garbage bag, an item that recently inspired also Marc Jacobs for the creation of the new Louis Vuitton it-bag! Among her most interesting items presented at her show, during Athens Xclusive Designers Week, were her box-shaped headpieces.
