My seventh day at the MB NY Fashion Week was mostly Asian in spirit and style, since all of the designers I saw were somehow of this origin. At Lie Sang Bong – who is one of my favorites – I loved the monochrome looks with some accent of black everywhere, the super structural and geometrical forms with softer details, the smart use of fur and leather, the prints and the coats with great texture and colorful effect. In some pieces there was a burst of red while in others the domination of black was accentuated by different textures. It was all about modern day luxury, fresher eveningwear and comfort!
Then at Zang Toi, I enjoyed his new palette of grey, bright green with black and some berry colors in opulent pieces for day and night, which one can mix and match according to the mood of the moment! The designer – who is very popular at the NY Fashion Week – gave us his grandiose version of the modern day diva who is clad in glamorous jewelry, warmed up by fine quality wool and adorned with fur stoles, intricate beading, and multiple layers of silk! This lady likes contrasts, fitted silhouettes and theatrical looks! She might be an opera singer, an architect, or simply the woman who never fails to look fabulous!
After this royal, red carpet atmosphere my mood was for exactly the opposite – a place where hipsters meet, which is below ground level but still sparkles and emits the greatest vibes. At the Gentle Monster party and presentation, I met Korean and international fashionistas enjoying upbeat music and rushing to pose with the brand’s new sunnies – a line you should be watching from now on. The designs were really cool and I bet that this summer many cool guys – including Bryan Boy who was in attendance – will be wearing these sunglasses! Girls will love them too! It was funny, because just a few hours ago I was at the gracious Salon at Lincoln Center tents and then I still had fun at this cool Tribeca basement! What an interesting day! And to make it even more delicious after that, I headed for a luscious dinner at the nearby Malt House gastropub! Had a wonderful beer and couldn’t forget the wasabi-enriched dip for the fried pickles! Stay tuned for more MB NY Fashion Week News coming soon!
