One of the most beautiful presentations held in New York during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was that one of Leiffsdottir for Spring/Summer 2010. The collection of the Scandinavian sister brand of “Anthopologie”, was presented in an atelier transformed into a luscious vintage garden, full of bird cages, flowers, almond candies and fer forge furniture. Johanna Uurasjarvi’s clothes, looked quite sophisticated, despite the fact that the first brand collection was launched in February 2008! Stunning top models, bearing binocles, umbrellas and fans, like in the old old days and wearing smartly invented printed dresses, were strolling around the guests. Hanging we saw very interesting pieces with more representative a skirt in a forest-like print.
It was really like a fashionable painting that you could carry with you till late at night.
Sexy and innocent silhouettes were catching attention. The designer was a perfect host, so warm and kind. Bright colors like turquoise, fuchsia, yellow, and sky blue were combined with white to bring some kind of balance. What was really making them more delicious was new age golden jewelry in intricate forms, that the designer had chosen carefully. I think it’s a promising brand. I was definitely impressed.
