These embroidered floral boots at the Tory Burch morning show at Sotheby’s set the tone for a fabulous Fall/Winter 2020 collection! The equestrian-inspired tailored suits, the peasant blouses and dresses, the muted colors interplaying with bolder hues, and the romantic or graphic motifs were visually appealing. It’s a sophisticated vision and one that brings women closer to nature and their dreamy self.
With Julianne Moore front row, this was definitely one of the big NYFW shows. There were ruched and ruffled details, blazers with dressed buttons, and silhouettes inspired by Tory’s signature exotic caftans. Yet the main point was the American countryside and the equestrian theme in a modern sense. This is definitely a high-fashion twist to an otherwise wearable contemporary brand. Artisanal elements made these items look more expensive and cosmopolitan. Tory wants to exude luxury this time, hence the location and the precious details, including works of art on the runway by ceramic artist Francesca DiMattio. The boots and the dresses are already in my wish list!
